When in doubt, turn it around

Isn't it one of the most frustrating things when your ideas aren't coming together. Most times the frustration keeps growing when the solution could be right in front of you. Most times its your shirt, year your shirts proportions are all wrong, its not laying or fitting exactly the way you remembered.

I am going to propose a solution that you should always try before ditching the entire outfit. If it is possible you should try to wear the shirt backwards. I have several shirts that I always wear backwards, they just look better that way! The one style that never fails is a v-neck in the back this style shirt can be worn easily with the v-neck in the front of back.  And most times when the V-neck is in the front it makes a much sexier look. The round neck is great for a causal look and the v-neck is sexy, one shirt with two different looks.

This exact situation just happened, this past weekend we were going out for a friends birthday and she was wearing a tight black shirt with a flowy blue shirt. The outfit was just average nothing special because something was off with the shirt. I asked my friend to try it on backwards because it had the v-neck,  from the look on her face you would have thought I asked her not to wear a shirt. But little did she know after questioning my suggestion she did and is completed her look. It was still loose which was a nice proportion to the tight skirt, but the low cut neck broke it up a little and really made the outfit better.

Don't be afraid to try something differently, simply because the tag will be on the wrong side. It is all about thinking outside of the box and how to get the best look.

Easy, but fashionable

bcbg.com
Lately,  I have been all about looking like a fashionista in the most simple and comfortable ways. Ladies you know what I'm talking about, looking 100% put together, having the outfit that everyone wishes they had on and still feeling comfortable. I also have discovered this complex where I miss my jeans because I can't wear them to work, so I must wear them out. It is separation anxiety, I swear.  I recently put this outfit together for a girls night out and it has become my favorite.

I know in previous posts I have said how much I love leather and it never goes out of style; well fashionistas, leather lovers, I'm about to take it on step further....LEATHER TOPS! That is right fall is here, leather season is back and I'm think way beyond jackets and boots. I recently purchased a faux leather tank top, which I wore with ripped up jeans and knee high boots. The top was so edgy and comfortably, but hot at the same time. To some it may look a little motorcycle chick, but it so much more fashionable than that. It was one of the easiest outfits that I have put together in a long time. As a fashionista I felt on point with trends, but still like my personality reflected in my outfit. Ladies I'm not kidding to have these feelings just by throwing on a top with a pair of jeans is very rare.

This top is not limited just to going out, but can be a great piece to add to your causal wardrobe too. Under a blazer or a sweater a leather top will add a completely different look. It makes for a very interested and unique shell that you don't already wear every day. They also make shirt versions with sleeves so you don't need to cover up your arms and simply feel like your wearing a t-shirt and jeans.

Every girl has a little inner badass inside, (or wishes) therefore we all need a little more leather in our life. It is worth every penny and I swear even if you don't think it is for you...it is, just go try it on!!!

Falls A'coming

As the summer comes to an end, we are all trying to squeeze in our favorite activities and wishing it wasn't almost over. Among all this some of us are excited for fall; brisk days with no humidity and let's be honest a whole new season of clothes to buy!!! An excitement to shop, and while  you are getting some new fall pieces you can find great summer markdowns to save for next year. Now that my current reasons for being a shopaholic this month are listed, I wanted to go over some of the trends that have caught my eye.

bcbg.com
There are two specifically that I have seen everywhere, they are both color combinations. This season shoppers will see a lot of black and white and black and royal blue combinations. These are such simple trends but utterly chic and stylish.

The black and white combination is a must-have look for fall. This combination comes from a clear cut vision, that nothing is as classic and traditional as simple black and white. You don't need bold colors and crazy patterns to look chic and amazing. That is exactly what I see in this fall trend. It comes in all forms from color blocking to pattern. It is a definite investment for you fall wardrobe. It is a piece that will forever be in style even after the trend is gone because of how classic it is.

This next color combination I was surprised to find myself liking. Since I can remember I was told not to wear black and blue because you looked like a bruise. To some degree I still think this is true, but I love royal blue and black. I think the colors have great contrast with the vibrance of blue against the black. This color combo looks great as an accent on dresses or even as a scarf to add a little style to your outfit. This outfit is just as chic as black an white except it makes great use of color.

I think these two trends excite me the most because they are so simple, but expand trends that already exist like color clocking. In some ways I think black and white is over looked because of its simplicity and now there is a focus on how much possibility there is and how great it can look. For me the black and blue is something that I don't have and never really thought to wear. These are the two trends that I think every fashionista should get.

Denim, it's more than just your jeans

Everyone has their favorite pair of jeans and their old trusty jean jacket in their closet.  However, this season denim is revisiting some old styles. Denim shirts and vests are everywhere. If you don't have an old one hidden in the back on your closet I suggest you definitely pick one up this season. The mini resurgence on denim is by no means making 'jean suits' acceptable, however it is adding a whole new creativity to modern trends that some people may have forgotten about.

Jeans are a staple to most outfits and jean jackets are a fantastic outfit toppers over most clothes. Wearing a vest as an alternative to your jacket adds a little bit of edginess to your outfit, without being confined in a jacket. While the denim shirt is something that most people never think to use but it is a great causal look. It is also not limited to any particular style or color, except for denim on denim. The other great aspects these pieces offer are the texture and color just within the wash that they add to an outfit.

These items also go great with some of the trends for the season, a jean shirt tied up on top of colored denim gives a great causal look. And a denim vest on top of a colorful maxi skirt gives a whole new look to the casual comfortable piece. These traditional classic pieces are adding creativity for the fashion forward dresser. Denim is now more than just a pair of jeans or a comfy old jacket it is a statement pieces that makes an outfit and adds a little more character to the look than just wearing any simple top from your closet.  Go on and starting getting a little more creative with your outfits, there are so many options out there waiting for you to pick your favorite one.

Skirts are a staple within every wardrobe no matter your style. There is something to fit every girl from a typical jean skirt , a colorful mini, or a classic pencil skirt. They are around every season, it just depends which length is in. But this season skirts are hitting maximum length; every girl must invest in a maxi. There are so many choices out there right now that you can pick the prefect one for you.  You could start small and just get a simple color, or be adventurous and get a patterned one. Heck you could even get a maxi dress and use it for a double purpose. Have a nice maxi dress or put any top over it and you have a maxi skirt! The are no limits if you think outside of the box with this must have piece.

They are so comfortable, flattering and effortless to wear, yet you look so cute and like you worked on putting this outfit together. It is this seasons throw on dress! Some maxis are pleated and sheer with a more elegance, while other are stretchy and comfortable just like yoga pants. Maxis are also a great piece to have when transitioning through out the seasons and pair well with all varieties of tops from a t-shirts to thick sweaters.

However,  maxi length is not new to the fashion scene. They have consistently been appearing in fashion highlights since the 70s. For some this is a totally new concept, but once you get one you'll be hooked, needing them in every color and every style. You most certainly will not care if it is the "hot" trend.  Now go shopping and get yourself your perfect maxi. It may take a whole day of searching since there are so many options out there, but it is worth the hunt.

Are you excited for SPRINGGG?!?!?1

As winter drags on fashionistas are getting tired of the winter look. We are sick of our sweaters, pants and all the dark colors. Spring and Summer clothes are so much more fun; bright and easy. But don't worry stores are filling this need with  pre-spring collections.

Forever21.com
Although it may feel strange to buy spring clothes in February, maybe you are going on vacation or maybe you just want to have a little fun and get a jump start on spicing up your look for spring. That is once you've gotten that winter weight off.

A few trends to be on the look for are the colors palettes for spring.  I've heard and read a lot about pastel colors being the thing to have.  There are a lot of blush and nudes being showcased, which is a great color to add to your closet because it is a soft color that is very easy to match with. I think this color would do great as a blazer, a step away from the traditional blacks, blues and grey. This soft color also makes it easy to dress up or down.  Colored blazers have a huge presence for the spring and I think it is a must have for the season, and blush is my color of choice.

This is an example of the blush color, for this piece I would go for a more relaxed look and probably a 3/4 sleeve. It gives you more options for both casual and professional outfit. You can find this type of blazer anywhere from forever 21 to Saks. I happen to really like the bar III blazer from Macy's.

Pastels have also taken over jeans. Blush, green and blue are just a few of the many pastel colors you can find in denim. Colored bottoms are such a great way to add color to your wardrobe. You can always pair a simple top to the bottoms and look effortlessly cute. AG has a great selection of pastel jeans, they are very soft and comfortable and have a fantastic look. AGs' pastel jeans have a little bit of a neon hue to them, which makes for an intriguing color.

However, remember those jewel tones that were big in the fall. Don't worry they are still around.  For the spring the jewel tone colors have a little bold hue to them. The colors to look for are green, blue, purple and orange. The IT color for the spring is actually orange. I LOVE this because orange is my favorite color and I think it get over looked for it fashion capability. You can find this color in every line and every form. I think everyone should at least try to add a piece of this great color to their wardrobe, even if you don't think it's for you just give it a try.
